passive-cooled homeserver made from old macbook

reusing my old 2006 macbook.

the macbook motherboard mounted to the heatsinks. the fan can be disabled by software or will automatically run, if the cpu gets hot. uses 11W at idle and 34W at 100% load. cpu temperature on idle is below 40°C

only moving and audible part is the HDD. (yes, that’s a cooking pot)

cpu and gpu passiv-cooled through 2 rather big heatsinks and a lot of heatsink compound.

the result is more than satisfying. 1.8 Ghz dual core running debian and gnome. with sata and gigabit ethernet.
